I visited China!? ☆南京町とルミナリエ☆

My visit to Hyogo: 神戸の南京町とルミナリエに行きました！

Hello, hello, hello!
I finally made my way over to Kobe! I had never been to Hyogo prefecture before, but it was on my Japan travel-list, so I can now tick that one off the list. Yay!♪

こんにちは、皆さん！今度は神戸に行ってきました。今まで兵庫県には一度も行ったことがなかったのですが、今回神戸に行ったことで私の旅行リスト（兵庫県は私の行きたい所リストの一つでした。）のひとつにチェックを入れることができます！

So this is how the story goes. Originally we tried TWICE to go see the beautiful autumn colours in Kyoto. First time, we tried going to Kiyomizu Temple, which at the time, had pretty illuminations. When we got to Kiyomizu Temple, there was waaaay too many people waiting in line. This photo was after about 30 minutes of waiting in line.

本当は、私たちは違う場所に紅葉を見に行こうとしました。1回目は京都の清水寺でライトアップがされてるときに行きました。しかし、私たちが着いた頃には相当な数の人が行列を作っていました。

Instead, I ate Kyoto's famous green tea soft cream and then we went home. It was a great adventure out for ice-cream! Check out all the different flavours! I want to try them all. What I've noticed, is that many people still eat ice-cream even during the coldest parts of winter.

なので代わりに京都で有名な”抹茶”のアイスクリームを食べて家に帰りました。この旅行はアイスクリームを食べに行ったようなものでした。笑　下の写真のアイスクリームを食べに行きました。
ヾ(*´∀｀*)ﾉ　その日の夜はとても寒かったのですが、たくさんの人がアイスクリームを食べている姿が見れました。

So, plan B. We were to go to Ishiyama Temple, which has very beautiful trees for both Autumn and Spring, but when we turned up almost every single leaf had already fallen. So in conclusion we had unfortunately missed the viewing season. Oh well, there is always time to see Sakura next year, right?

そこで私たちの立てたプランBは、石山寺という春と秋に綺麗な木々をみれるお寺に行くことでした。しかし、私たちが行った時にはほとんどの葉が落ちていました。結局私たちは紅葉のシーズンを逃してしましました。まぁでも、桜を見る時間はあるでしょ？笑

On this same day, we made a spontaneous decision to make our way over to Kobe by train. Okay so lets go to Kobe!☆ Please enjoy my beautiful treasure map.

そこで、その日のうちに急遽、神戸に電車で行くことを決めました！私の旅のマップを見てください！

Okay! So ✵abracadabra✵we have now arrived at Kobe Station! It was extremely cold when we arrived and shortly after it began to rain. We then headed off to Nankinmachi, which is Kobe's Chinatown. Okay, so I didn't visit China, but it's close enough for me.

そのときはとても寒くて、私たちが到着してすぐに小雨が降りだしました。それから南京町という神戸の中華街に行きました！中国には行かなかったけど、私にとっては十分でした。

Nankinmachi was about a 17 minute walk from JR Kobe Station. When we arrived it was very busy, the street was crowded with people lining up to get a bite to eat. There were many different stalls selling Chinese food. I ate the best tasting nikuman since arriving in Japan, for a mere 150円! I also tried some different flavoured ramen. 

南京町から神戸駅へは徒歩17分ほどつきました。その時南京町はとても混雑していて食べ物を買うために待っている人たちの行列でいっぱいでした。南京町にはたくさんの中華料理を販売しているお店があります。私はその中から日本に来て一番美味しいと思った肉まん（それも150円！）そのほかに何種類かのラーメンを食べました。

It was a bit too crowded to take photos of the different stalls and ranges of Chinese food. We also walked by a very popular restaurant that had maybe 50 or more people waiting in line to enter! I was really craving boba tea, but it was a little too cold to drink that.

いろいろなお店や料理の写真を撮るにはすこし混雑しすぎていました。また、私たちはとても有名なお店の前を歩いたのですが、そこには50人かそれ以上の人たちが中に入るために行列を作っていました。あとタピオカティーを飲みたかったのですが、寒すぎたので諦めました。

After leaving Nankimachi, we wandered around central Kobe for a while. We were surprised to see that the annual ルミナリエ event was taking place the night we were there! I really wanted to see some illuminations this season so we played the waiting game and lined up once again to see this beautiful show.

南京町を出たあと神戸の中心街を散策しました。そこで、その日の晩にここでルミナリエという行事が行われることを知って驚きました。私はイルミネーションがとても見たかったので、少し時間を潰してからルミナリエの列に並びに行きました。

It grew dark as we headed off to join the line to see the illuminations. People were wafting in from all directions and the roads were being closed for pedestrians only. During the line we passed this cute Christmas tree made of stuffed animals!

私たちが列に並び始めた頃から辺はすこしづつ暗くなっていきました。いろんな方向から人が集まってきて、車道は歩行者専用になっていました。列に並んで歩いてる途中、私は下の写真にあるように、動物の人形などで作られたクリスマスツリーを見ました。

We waited in line for about 30 minutes, give or take. I could say we were in the front portion of the line, but there was still many in front of us. The illuminations were humongous, and so very spectacular. I wondered how long it took to set this thing up.


私たちは行列の前の方にいましたが、それでも前にはたくさんの人がいました。イルミネーションはとても大きくて、素晴らしかったです。私はいったいどのくらいの時間をかけて作ったのだろうと思いました。

This was like the entrance-way to the beautifully lit up castle of some sort that you will see down in the next picture. It was so amazing to see in person and these photos do not do enough justice. Here are some photos leading up to the heart of the attraction.


上の写真は下の写真の光のお城のようなイルミネショーンの入口のようなライトアップの写真です。イルミネーションはとても綺麗で、写真で見るよりももっと綺麗でした。これらの写真は光のお城へと続く道とお城の中の一部です。

The designs were really beautiful. It was such a great experience seeing this event! I highly recommend you come here one year. Although there is a tonne of people who tend to push and shove to get their photo taken, haha.


イルミネーションのデザインはとても美しくて、ルミナリエはとても感動的な体験でした。いつの日かブログを見てくださっている皆さんにも見に行っていただくことをとてもおすすめします。写真を撮るために押したりする人がたくさんいますけど、、、笑

大きくて美しい鳥かごの中にいるような感じがしました。　半端ない人の数！！

☆Golden Temple!? 金閣寺☆

Trip to Kinkakuji (Golden Temple)　♡ 京都府の金閣

Hi, guys! Sorry for the absence in my posts lately. Hope everyone had a great Halloween, I know I did!
こんにちは皆さん！最近、投稿が遅くなってしまってすみません！皆さんが素晴らしいハロウェーンを過ごされたことを祈っています。私は楽しみました。 

Anyway, today's blog is the one and only, KINKAKUJI!
A few Saturdays ago we went to see Kinkakuji, Kyoto's golden temple, which is in fact very golden. If you are interested in visiting temples or shrines, I suggest you add Kinkakuji to your list!♪
ところで、今日のお題はすべて金閣寺についてです。笑
何週間か前の土曜日に私たちは金閣寺（本当に金ピカのお寺）を見に来ました。もし、あなたが神社やお寺に訪れることに興味があるなら、金閣寺に行くことをおすすめします！♪

It was actually quite a hot day and we had quite the walk from JR Enmachi Station. As soon as we arrived I requested to sit down, haha! So we sat outside of a little ice-cream shop at the entrance of the temple. They were selling both green tea and sesame flavoured ice-cream, which are my most favourite flavours, ever! 
その日は少し暑い日で、私たちはJR円町駅から少し歩きました。到着してすぐ私はどこかに座ろうと言いました。笑　なので、私たちは金閣寺の入口付近のアイスクリーム屋さんの前あたりで座りました。そこのお店では私の大好きな抹茶味と胡麻味のアイスクリーム売られていました。

So we eventually made our way down to see the temple. The entrance fee was 400円, we purchased our entrance tickets and were handed an information pamphlet. Shortly after entering, the temple was already in sight. It was quite the wait in line to get a perfect picture without people whaling about in the background, but it is definitely worth the wait to get a special photo of your own.
それからやっと私たちはお寺に行きました。入場料は400円でそこでパンフレットも貰いました。入ってすぐに金閣寺は見えました。きれいな写真を撮るには少し待たなければいけませんでした。でも、そこまでしてでも撮る価値のあるお寺です。

Around the back of Kinkakuji we sighted a school of Koi, which was really exciting for me because I had never seen one before, let alone a whole pack of them. There was also some really cute turtles swimming about.
金閣寺の裏の方では鯉の学校を見ることが出来ました。今まで、一度も鯉を見たこともなかったなのにたくさんの鯉をそこで見ました！(ﾟoﾟ;;　また、そこには可愛い亀も泳いでいました。

After viewing the temple, the tour continues up through the gardens, I suggest wearing appropriate shoes as there is quite a lot of walking up stairs. There were a couple of really pretty ponds and waterfalls along the way. There were signs of red and yellow coloured leaves, so we all know what that means~! Autumn is coming!
お寺を見た後の順路は庭に続いています。金閣寺に来るときは、動きやすい靴を履くことをおすすめします。なぜなら、たくさんの階段があるからです。その順路の周りにはいくつかの可愛い池や滝があります。またそこには赤色や黄色の落ち葉がありました。その意味はもちろん…　秋が近づいて来ている！！！！

At the top of all the stairs there were many markets and another temple to tell your prayers to the Kamisama. You can also have the chance to do Omikuji, light incense or write your prayer onto a wooden slate which is then hung next to the temple. I made my prayer by giving money and ringing the large bell in front of the temple.
頂上に着くとお店や神様にお祈りをするための他のお寺があります。またおみくじをしたり、お線香をお供えしたり、絵馬をかけたり、することができます。神社の前のお賽銭箱にお金を入れて、鐘を鳴らして、お祈りしました。

☆Beauteen Hair Dye!?☆

Beauteen Natural Brown　♡　髪の毛を染めました。

Recently I decided to go back to (well close to) my natural hair colour. Yahoo~ I chose Beauteen's Milky Hair Colour in Natural Brown. I really liked the shade of the model's hair and the girly packaging. Here is how my experience went! Let's start!　(*ﾟ▽ﾟ*)

今回は、髪の毛の色を染め直すことにしました。いぇい！使用したのはBeauteenのナチュラルブラウンです。パッケージの女の子の髪の毛の色が好きなのとパッケージが可愛かったので選びました。

 So here is a rough background of my hair since I've been in Japan.

So since I had previously bleached my hair 2-3 times, (honestly I couldn't remember) I was looking around on a couple of boxes to see the after results of the "lightened" hair. Since many Japanese hair dyes include peroxide, I wanted to make sure my hair would not turn out a crazy orange colour, or something else, by choosing a product that would lighten my hair further. I decided on Beauteen's Natural Brown!

私は過去に2・3回ブリーチをしました（正確な回数は覚えていません）。なので、ブリーチ剤入りの染料を使って髪の毛がオレンジ色にならないように、ブリーチ剤の入っていない染料を探しました。そこで、Beauteenのナチュラルブラウンを買いました。

The box included all the things you would normally find in a box colour. Preparation and the process itself was very quick and easy! I mixed product 1 in with product 2, shake shake shake, massage it through my hair and TA~DA~ done! Well, nearly. Once the product was all through my hair, I let it sit for 15 minutes as the instructions said to do. I washed it out and used the after-care conditioner provided.

髪染めの商品には通常写真のような製品が入っています。準備と髪を染めるのは早くて簡単で、
１液と２液を混ぜて髪の毛に塗るだけで...チャラ～ン♫　終わりです。　あ！　全体に塗り終わったら、15分ぐらい放置して、そのあと髪の毛を洗って付属のコンディションナーを使って終わりです。笑

The dye was very pleasant smelling and was soft on my scalp. The mixture was the colour of an overripe banana and very runny in consistency.
When I had bought dark brown hair dye in Australia after having my hair a lighter colour, it would always turn out with a red tinge or undertone. I was a nice tone, but I wanted a more ashier shade of dark brown, not copper brown. Thankfully, Beauteen didn't give me the dreaded copper shade I was hoping not to get. My hair turned out exactly like the model's on the box. I am very pleased with it!

今回使った髪染め液はとてもいい匂いがして、頭皮も痛くなりませんでした。見た目は古いバナナの色みたいで、とてもサラサラでした。オーストラリアで、髪染め液を買ってブロンドの髪を染めるとオレンジ色っぽくなります。それもいいのですが、もう少し自然なブラウンの色にしたかったので日本の髪染め液で染めた結果には満足です！

Back to brown!

Beauteen Milky Hair Colour cost me 620円, tax included. I bought it from a beauty store called Kirindo. I have noticed that Japanese beauty stores are becoming more popular in Australia and other western countries, so I'm sure you could pick one up quite easily! You can also buy these kind of products from online stores that specialise in Asian beauty products. I have heard about nightmares to do with foreigners using Japanese hair dyes, but my experience was quite positive! So don't let other blog posts scare you! Give it a try if you're interested. I mean, hair grows back, right? ♫

Beauteenのミルキーヘアカラーは税込620円です。私はキリン堂という薬局で買いました。日本の薬局はオーストラリアでも少しずつ人気になりつつあるので、オーストラリアでも簡単に購入することができると思います。また、インターネットなどのオンラインショップなどでもアジアの美容専門品などが購入できます。以前にネットで外国人が日本の髪染め液を使うと良くないというのを見たことがあるのですが、私の場合は大丈夫でした！なので、ほかのブログで書かれていることを怖がらないで、興味があったら試してみてください！髪の毛はまた生えてくるでしょ？w

☆Kanji Practice: Manga!?☆

Today I bought some Manga! ♡ 今日はマンガを買いました。

A couple of series I enjoy.

Lately I have had a lot of free time and haven't been using my DS in a while. I originally bought my 3DS on my first trip to Japan so that I could practice reading and understanding different Kanji. I became bored of playing the same DS games so I decided to go to the store to buy some Manga for a new source of reading practice. I searched around and found some series, which I had already seen the anime to, and checked whether or not the author had included furigana.

最近、暇な時間が多くて、DSもしてませんでした。もともと３DSは日本に旅行に行く時のために日本語の読み書きを勉強しようと思って買いました。でも、最近、DSに飽きてきたのでマンガを買いに行こうと思いました。アニメで見たことのあるマンガを探しました。また、そのマンガがふりがながふられているのかも調べました。

これはゾンビですか？ (Is this a Zombie?) did not have furigana.

The bookstore is about a 5 minute walk from where I live, so I went down to have a look. I could have been in the store for hours, but these are the series that made it home. I bought them from a store called Book Off, which can be found anywhere in Japan. Most of these books were 100円 without tax. They are second-hand but appear brand new! Brand new Manga can range on average around 400円-800円. I remember shopping for Manga in Australia and the price of one book would be around $10 or more!

私が住んでいる場所から５分ぐらいのところに本屋さんがあるので見に行きました。楽しくて時間を忘れてしまいそうでした。写真の本は私が買った本です。ブックオフという日本ではどこにでもある本屋さんで買いました。これらの本のほとんどは１００円でした。中古の本ですがほとんど新品と見分けがつかないくらいでした。ちなみに、新品のマンガは４００円から８００円ぐらいです。オーストラリアでは１冊１０００円かそれ以上ですよ！

にゃんこい！ with furigana.

I normally keep my phone handy for searching any vocabulary or kanji I don't understand.

The illustrations can also help you to remember certain words or phrases. So if you are learning Japanese, try reading some Manga with furigana. It's relaxing and fun! You'd be surprised at the kinds of vocabulary I have learnt from playing games or reading books in Japanese.

私はいつも携帯を分からない漢字や文法を調べるのに使っています。また、マンガの絵は外国人が理解するのにも役立ちます。なので、もしあなたが日本語を勉強しているなら、ふりがな付きのマンガを読んでみることをおすすめします！気軽で楽しいですよ☆彡　私はいろいろな日本語をゲームや本から学びました。

I normally read manga that fall under the categories of 'Splice of Life' or 'Supernatural' and of course, anything that has a cat on the front page. If you have any Manga to recommend for me, I'd really appreciate it!♡

私は普段少女マンガ、SFマンガのようなもの読みます。　もちろん、表紙に猫が描いてあるマンガも読みますよ！笑　もし、おすすめのマンガがあったら教えてください♪
